Signature Flight Support is the world's largest flight support operation (FSO) and distribution network for business services.  Signature products and services include fueling, hangar and office rentals, ground handling, passenger services, maintenance, fuel purchasing and deicing at strategic domestic and international locations.

Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, Signature currently operates at more than 80 locations worldwide.  KMI is Signature’s Program Manager for its development obligations.

Whenever Signature gains a presence at an airport, either through a successful response to an RFP or through a negotiated extension to an in-place lease, it takes on development responsibilities.  These capital improvements may contemplate demolition and abatement of dilapidated facilities, construction of new ramps, taxiways, terminal buildings, hangar buildings, ground support equipment shops, fuel farms, deicing pads, refurbishments, or other improvements described in the lease.  In order to keep its site staff focused on running the business, Signature engaged KMI to manage its development obligations.

KMI pre-qualifies consultants and contractors and recommends lists of bidders for Signature’s consideration.  Following the approval of bid list(s), KMI issues RFPs to competitively bid projects.  KMI then analyzes bid responses and makes award recommendations.  Following contract award(s), KMI manages the projects to ensure that the cost is controlled, the schedule is maintained and the quality conforms to specifications.  KMI manages the process from job inception, through Certificates of Occupancy, to Final Completion, ensuring that all project deliverables, including guarantees, warranties, spare parts, training, project record documentation and all other items, are delivered in the manner set forth by the contract documents.

KMI worked with Signature to develop design standards to ensure that there are consistent architectural treatments in Signature’s facilities throughout its network.  For new construction, three prototype terminal building designs were developed with Signature’s input, defining the occupancy and use requirements for a large, medium sized and small facility.

KMI is in its fourth year of providing Program Management services to Signature Flight Support Corporation and has ongoing projects at the Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, Logan International Airport in Boston, Palm Springs International Airport in California and Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York.  <Return to top of page>
